The notion of creating in a fit of inspiration with "the muse sitting on your shoulder" is a stereotypical fallacy propagated by artsy-fartsy old coprolites who no longer make art but want to pretend that they still do. It's much easier to act like an artist than it is to make art.
Making art is work...and it may not be as physically difficult as digging a ditch but don't kid yourself; it is work nevertheless.
